Details - The 1983 European Cup Winners’ Cup Final was held on 11 May 1983 at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden, between Aberdeen of Scotland and the mighty Real Madrid of Spain. Managed by a young Alex Ferguson, Aberdeen produced a remarkable performance to win 2–1 after extra time, becoming only the third Scottish club to win a major European trophy. Eric Black opened the scoring for Aberdeen, but an equaliser from Juanito brought Real Madrid
back into the match. In extra time, John Hewitt’s header sealed a famous victory for the Dons, marking the greatest night in the club’s history and cementing Ferguson’s reputation as one of football’s brightest managerial talents.
