The match between Liverpool and Manchester United was hosted at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff whilst the new Wembley was being constructed. The match would finish 2-1 to Liverpool. Two early goals from Gary McAllister and Michael Owen, was to much for United who could only manage a second half consolation from Ruud Van Nistlerooy.
